Farhan’s Frequency: We should play video games – but very specific ones
Written by Farhan Ahmed
How many games do you have in your home? Are they all Ps3, Xbox360, or a mixture of most consoles? How often do you play it: during school days or weekends? Well, if your mom ever tells you to stop playing and start studying, what do you tell her? Here are some suggestions: Mom, or dad, I don’t want to, it’s useless and doesn’t help. True, but only half way so. Homework will help you learn many things in life that are difficult to learn through media, but, it doesn’t mean that starting your console takes away your knowledge and is not beneficial. Don’t get me wrong playing Pac man, Stardoll, or Miniclip will not guarantee you with a whole bunch of “Knowledge,” as your parents want you to. SO, if you, as a student, want to have this intelligence, play what is called Assassin’s Creed.
Every history project or lesson requires you to research many ancient histories that result as a silent ending. What should be your role to make sure you get the full credit on the research project? Play the first Assassin’s Creed. It focuses on the renaissance of Jerusalem in the 10th to 11th centuries when the country tried to enhance its growth of the country.
Think of your art class for a second. What are you currently working on? The renaissance of Florence, Italy. Well, that is Assassin’s Creed 2. The second game takes place in the time period of the art movement, 1400s to the early 1500s. (This was when some of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles characters lived, such as Splinter and Shredder.) You will have the opportunity to learn it before you have to listen to the boring lectures given by your art teacher.
So, this is my point, you can play video games, but only certain ones. The Assassin’s Creed series is one of ones that I mentioned. If you are interested in these types of games then others would be the God of War series and Infamous. So, if you still don’t know what to say to your parents instead of the usual argumentative things, then tell them that you are studying. You’re studying through your games.
