Walter’s Gamer’s Corner–Let’s be reasonable

Written by Walter Robinson, The Eagle Senior Columnist

Okay Eagle readers it’s time for another daily dose of my thoughts.  To begin with, I honestly believe it is easier to write a column on something you don’t like rather than something you actually like.   I think I’ll try to, once in a while, write about something I do like.

1)    The school dress code– the thing I believe has been getting the most attention from public schools everywhere.  Now before I do this I’m going into a little background of my own.   Back when I was in kindergarten all the way up to 8th grade we had to wear a school uniform.  So for me it’s not too much of a big deal, as I don’t care if I get to wear that new American Eagle shirt with my new sneakers.  To add to this I never viewed this as silencing my voice of expression in any way.  Maybe because I never really grew up with it, maybe because I didn’t have enough time yet to grow out of it or maybe it’s because I just honestly do not care at all.  The point is that I don’t think uniform would be all that bad.

2)          -Homework, the thing teachers give out and tell you that if it’s not finished it can destroy that A or whatever you have, but how much is too much?  Everyone here at Obama has 8 periods, not including QRT, and it can become a living, breathing, walking, nightmare if they’re all due the next day.  Yeah we’re teens and the fact of the matter is we want—no, we need== free time to do whatever we like and still be able to get to school the next day ready for anything.  Of course, if it’s  some minor assignment then I have to say, why didn’t you do your homework when it was so little.

Just take time out of that busy schedule, which means put down the comics, put down the video games, turn off the tv, turn off your phone, and work.  Simple, now you have something less to argue about when the big test comes and you have to last minute study before it completely dive bombs your grade into oblivion.

I don’t know, but life as a student just isn’t that bad, or unreasonable.

For the Lady Eagles, the hits just keep on coming

Written by Kendra Davis and India Woods, The Eagle Staff Reporters

Obama’s Lady Eagles beat the Westinghouse Bulldogs 64 to 2. Obama started off winning from the beginning and entered halftime with a score 36 to 1. Mrs. Walker was emotional at the end of the game since it was the last home game for her eighth grade players. “There isn’t anything I would change; this truly is an all star team.” When asked what she needs to improve on, Chianne Chambal replied her dribbling and her shooting. She says she will never give up or stop improving her game.

The Lady Eagles crushed the Westinghouse Bulldogs last night with the score of 64 to 2. It was a bittersweet night because it was the 8th grade players’ last game. The players were doing so well as the game went on  and maintained their intensity even though there was no way that Westinghouse could beat them. They still played hard until the end and didn’t slack one bit. At the end of the game everyone honored the 8th graders with balloons and gifts, and Ms. Walker (coach) really felt it. We interviewed 8th grader Cheyenne Campbell who said that they tried their best and it was just a shocker that this was actually their last game.

”It was a great game– the whole team did great, they are like a team of perfection,” said a tearful Mrs.Walker.
