Sabria’s Poetry Corner: One Day

Written by Sabria Mitchell, The Eagle Poet-in-Residence

Is there something wrong with me?

Cause’ I’m still here all alone

All my friends are high off romance

And I’m sitting here at home

And then I’ll get a call

Telling me about their time

How great it was and how they laughed

Until the sun had shined

And all the while I’m thinking

How lucky they must be

Because I dream about the day

Hell sweep me off my feet

But hey, what can I do?

They just don’t understand

One day I’ll laugh with someone new

And we’ll be holding hands

Mrs.Smookler moving to Florida

Written by Nick Nordquist, The Eagle Staff Reporter

Moving on can be a very hard thing to do, whether it be for the better or worse. Mrs. Smookler, a 12th grade TOK and History teacher, is leaving Pittsburgh Obama and is moving to Florida with her husband.

She says she won’t be retiring from the profession of teaching, but she will be going to grad school to get her PhD in History. She looks forward to the move, but says she will miss the friendliness and respect she gets from the students here at Obama. She also talks about how she’s going to miss her colleagues, and the juniors that she’s gotten to know so well.
