Mr.Lazur wrapping up great teaching, coaching career
Written by Aisha Vaughns, Cheona Collins for The Eagle
After being a teacher for 35 marvelous years, Mr.Lazur is finishing his last year as a math teacher atObamaAcademy. The Eagle wanted to honor Mr. Lazur and give him one last interview before his retirement. When asked “What are you most looking forward to doing in retirement?” Mr. Lazur replied, “Doing what I want, and when I want.”
He also said he’ll enjoy going toKentuckyat the beginning of July to build houses for 10 days. Another thing he is looking forward to would be his trip toHawaiiin the fall. When asked about what he would miss most, Mr. Lazur exclaimed with pride, “I’ll miss the excitement of working with students, they keep me young.”
He’ll also miss the classroom, filled with all the children he has taught.
Mr.Lazur began teaching because he always enjoyed math, as well as the educational setting. He also wanted to coach so he figured being in thePittsburghPublic Schoolsystem would make the chances of being a coach much better.
Mr.Lazur would like to thank everyone at Obama for making his last year so memorable and comfortable. He hopes all his students would remember his class room as a friendly, but challenging place.

Mrs.Kiesel looking forward to retirement, but will miss teaching
Written by Jimmy Pelletier for The Eagle
This year marks the departure of several teachers from our high school staff. One of them is Mrs. Kiesel. After a 35 year career that ends at Obama, she is finally going to retire at the end of this school year. “I think the thing I will miss the most is getting up at 5:30 in the morning,” she jokes. But what she really is going to miss is leaving all the hard-working students she has had over the years, and the wonderful staff of the Social Studies department both here and at Schenley. When asked about what she plans to do while retires, she says: “I plan on doing what strikes my fancy. Hopefully, it will be legal.”
