Relationships: Are they really worth it for young people?

Written by Levi Brown, The Eagle columnist

Every once in a while I see a young couple holding hands and or showing affection towards each other in public. When I say young couple I mean early to mid-teens. It’s obvious that they are in some sort of relationship. Now we are all human and I totally respect the fact that we, as human beings, are going to be physically attracted to another person. It’s natural. I think at times people get too serious and times like that can make a relationship become a distraction to more important things going on in life such as school, work, etc.

Also in a relationship, if one partner talks about having a child, they are jeopardizing their chances of finishing high school. They will have to consider these options if they actually become pregnant. They may have to consider abortion, dropping out of school, and having their parents taking care of the child.

Overall, relationships can wait. Education comes first, not affection for another human being.
