Mr.Copich–October HS Teacher Feature

Mr. Copich, a math teacher at Pittsburgh Obama is an interesting individual. He has been only been teaching for 15 years but has acquired so much love from and for his students and co-workers. He spent 8 years in the Woodland Hills School District, and 6 here at Pittsburgh Public.

“A certain amount of energy is received from the students, they are always eager to learn”, Mr. Copich says. “It makes my job much easier.” Copich believes that teaching in an IB school requires a lot of creativeness on the teacher’s part. He also feels that teaching Algebra 1 through the various areas of interaction makes teaching a lot more interesting than in a usual classroom setting.

Success in math is a very difficult thing to attain. Mr.Copich believes that students can mastery of math skills at a very high level through hard work and experimentation.

Outside of the classroom, Mr. Copich enjoys bicycling, cooking, reading, camping, working with electronics, and going to Radio Shack and to check out the brand new calculators. His advice for anyone who is considering a career as an educator is “Go for it, because teaching is a very noble profession”.
