November MS Teacher Feature–Mr.Trovato

Written by Kendra Davis, The Eagle Staff Reporter

“I love teaching, because I enjoy the children,” said Obama Academy’s own seventy-three year-old former military police officer, Carmen Trovato.

Mr. Trovato has been married for thirty-two years. Within those years he’s had three children, now between the ages of twenty-five and thirty-one. He is originally from Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Mr. Trovato attended the University of Tennessee. He later began teaching history at Westmont Hilltop.

In 1967, Trovato traveled to Europe. He was unable to find employment due to the fact that Europe was still recovering from World War II. Despite this obstacle Mr. Trovato moved back to Pennsylvania where he began to teach at various schools such as Allderdice, Arsenal, and Frick – as it was in the transition to becoming the Obama Academy.

In his free time, when he isn’t teaching high-school or middle-school physical education, Mr. Trovato is a referee. He has worked as a referee for college and high-school basketball, football, and volleyball.
