Allderdice gets revenge, pounds Carrick hockey 6-0; Obama players star

Written by Brandon Hutton, The Eagle Staff Reporter

The Allderdice and Carrick ice hockey teams met for the second time this season at Ice Castle skating rink. However, the second team they met was different.

For the first couple of minutes for the first period, the teams were going back and forth with very few shots. Allderdice was able to break the ice when Sam Conturo, an Obama student, broke the ice with a shot that zoomed past the goalie. Then, Obama had a chance to go score another point while on a power play, but failed to do so.  At the end of the first, Carrick had a good opportunity when a Carrick player slid behind the defense and nearly scored on a breakaway but, the goalie and buzzer said no.

The second period came and Allderdice had another man advantage. The team capitalized whenever Sam Conturo put it in the net, again. Another power play chance and the same result: Sam Conturo scored. This ended up being the story of the game and by the end of the game, they scored on four power plays, all of which by Sam.

However, another Obama native, Luke Miller scored on a beautiful backhand in front of the net and Sam with an assist. Near the end of the game, Sam Conturo had a chance for six goals on a breakaway, but Carrick’s goalie came up with a nice save. The only thing we could ask for is an “Ovechtrick,” but he was unable to provide.

The end of the game was different than the previous games. The teams went into their locker rooms at separate times because the last time they played there was a “mob” in front of the locker rooms. The precautions taken this time worked and nothing bad happened.
