Sabria’s Poetry Corner—Not Me But Her
.
Written by Sabria Mitchell, The Eagle Poet-in-Residence
She has everything I don’t
Everything you’re looking for
She has confidence and grace
A nice smile and so much more
You think that no one’s perfect
Until you cross her path
Her long hair flows like water
While she flutters every lash
I can’t help that I’m angry
There’s not one flaw I see
I hate her ‘cause she’s great
And that he’ll take her over me
I swear she is a model
On top of that, she’s smart
And just to add on to the pro’s
She has a caring heart
He stares at her with interest
Like none else is there
He cares for her much more than me
They’d be a perfect pair
It’s hard for me to say this
It’s me that it will taunt
Its time to just admit the truth
Not me, but her he wants

I went to a prom with someone like that and was bored to tears. The person who fascinated me looked probably didn’t look all that special to the rest of the world. It’s not a matter of checking off the boxes so don’t obsess about the competition.
