The high school Obama Girls basketball team played Brashear and won 47-33 on Wednesday. The girls had a very good game. During the second half of the game both teams came out more aggressively, which got the crowd hyped. The Obama girls stayed strong and kept a lead winning by fifteen points. After the game I asked the head coach Ms. McCoy some questions.

Q: How did you feel about this game?

Coach McCoy: I think that they had a good game, work is needed and it was the first home win.

Q: How do you feel about this year’s team?

Coach McCoy: I feel very good about this group of girls. They’re focused and I’m happy about this year’s group.

Q: What do you feel the teams strongest points were?

Coach McCoy: I feel that they were good on rebounds, they worked together and we were good with fast breaks.

Q: What do you think they need to improve on?

Coach McCoy: There’s always room for more practice but they need to improve on fundamentals.

Q: From the previous games, how do you think they improved?

A: Intensity

Q: Do you feel that the Lady Eagles could win the city championship this year?

A: Yes, they are very hard working and we’re going to take each game step by step.

Taylor Smith led the girls with 21 points. Next up, the girls will host Allderdice on Friday.
