For DJ Porter and Leaky Jones, two players on the basketball team, their junior year did not end the way they expected, especially since the odds were in their favor to win the city league. Perry upset the basketball team in the finals in a shocking game. As they head to their senior year both Porter and Jones are looking to make 2014 a big year. Call it unfinished business.

They both enjoyed winning 16 games in the season and the close-knit ties the team had. Dj led the City League in scoring, as well. But Porter does not like losing and is set on winning the championship next year. “We didn’t like the feeling of losing,” he says.

Jones couldn’t stand losing the play-offs either, and he is set on helping the team win the championship by getting the team to work together while Porter really thinks the team needs to condition. “We just need to focus and work harder.”

To that end, the players will be working harder than ever this summer, on travel ball teams and on local hoop courts. You can say that DJ, Calique and fellow senior Dashan Malloy are men on a mission.

There are many successful teams out there and Porter really looks up to the Heat. For Jones there is no one team that he really can call his favorite. With high hopes and a game plan of what to get done the Obama basketball team looks like it’s headed to another City Championship with DJ Porter and Leaky Jones leading the way.
