Amila Niksic, Writer

Please give a warm welcome to this week’s Senior of the Week, Bryn Young! Bryn is an active member of many clubs at Obama and a passionate social activist. Learn a little more about Bryn below.

What is your favorite memory of Obama?
My favorite memory would have to be the secret Santa this year with my entire friend group at lunch. That table is where we’ve been every day since 9th grade.

What will you miss the most?
Honestly, everything. Even though there were some things I really really disliked, I wouldn’t be the person I am today without them, especially in terms of social activism, etc. I’m really gonna miss this school.

Would you recommend Obama to incoming students?
See like, I’m not sure because I prefered my experience because my character allowed for the trials and tribulations but I’m not sure how other people would take it because it’s not a super welcoming place, but the academics are amazing, I would say 50/50.

What is one thing you would like to see changed about our school?
If we had a more diverse student/teacher population the social structure would be strengthened.

What is something you’d like to do in your free time?
In my free time I really enjoy going to protests.

What’s your favorite store?
I really love Goodwill. You just know that you’re gonna find something different in there, something that other people don’t own.

What is your favorite food?
Fettucini Alfredo with Sausage from Olive Garden

What is something you’d like to accomplish in life?  (it can be anything)
Whenever I saw Marshall last year, I really wanted to be the next Marshall as far as social justice goes. I want to be the one people know can help them. I don’t want to be famous, I want to be known. If I can do that by the time I’m 30, I’ll be good.

What are your plans for college?
I’ll be going to Carlow, and I’m doing a 3-3 program. I’ll take 3 years in undergrad and 3 years in law school.

What do you want to major in?
I’m majoring in PoliSci. (Political Science)

Who is your favorite teacher?
I don’t have a favorite teacher, I literally love every teacher (that’s cause I’m a bit of a teacher’s pet but….)

Any shoutouts or last words?
Shoutout to Kierra, Cierra, Becca, Jordan, Margaret (Peggy),
