It was hard to watch on Friday night as veterans of USO’s 2016 City League championship team were among the players handed at 35-14 drubbing by arch-rival Allderdice. Allderdice pulled ahead in the first half, and while it looked like USO might have a comeback in the third quarter, hopes were dashed when Dice scored another touchdown, cementing their lead. Happier moments were there, however. Halftime featured a procession of  Class of 2019 seniors from the football team, cheerleading squad, and band. They joyously marched through the purple-white balloon arch with kith and kin in tow, from single parents to entire families. And the USO stands were packed, as students turned out to have a good time and cheer on the football team.
